Introducing a little preview of Phoebe 9 weeks new, she was an absolute star for her newborn baby portraits at my home studio in Plymouth.
When mum contacted me about booking a baby portrait session little Phoebe was already past the 5-14 day window that is advised to capture those squishy baby portraits. Mum had recently learnt this and decided to get in touch, as she really wanted those precious memories to treasure while little phoebe is still small, I was happy to inform mum that although this is the ideal window newborn baby portraits can be taken up to roughly 3 months old, its true that the ideal age is 5-14 day's as babies are more inclined to still like to be curled up as they were inside the womb and they are also more inclined to sleep longer as newborn babies do. I have however posed many older babies especially as mum has either been unaware of the ideal window or because mum or baby has spent some time recovering after birth.
As you can see at 9 weeks old little Phoebe was a dream baby and even let me get her into some props. She was very awake at time and it did take a little longer than some younger newborns but this is to be expected when working with slightly older babies, as they start to become more alert and taking more notice of their surroundings and start to adjust to the big world outside the warm comforts of the womb.
"Ashley was recommended to us by a friend. We wanted newborn pictures of our baby girl but were worried we had left it too late as she was already 8 weeks old. Ashley was absolutely fantastic, he captured both smiling and sleeping shots of our daughter. He was so patient and managed to get her to sleep several times which is no easy task! Ashley was extremely accommodating ensuring he got shots with all the props and outfits we chose even though we had run over time. We would highly recommend Ashley (the baby whisperer), not only is he a fantastic photographer but he has a fantastic way with children."
Please feel free to share this blog post or leave a comment below, I would like to know how many of you know the ideal age to get your baby or children portraits done within the first year as there are certain windows to capture certain milestones, please feel free to check out my baby portrait photography and my children portrait photography.
