Lily and Lola made a great team demolishing their cake and really did have a great time, they were both cheeky little monkeys but Lola even more so as she loved to show me her tongue, but the pair of them gave me some great opportunities for some lovely children's portraits
Its lovely to be able to see how they have grown and see their unique little characters, its also very special to be able to document another one of their milestones for the parents to keep and treasure.
Cake smash photography has to be one of my most enjoyable sessions, its always full of fun and laughter and a whole load of cake. It is such a great way to celebrate your child's first birthday and normally starts off with a fun filled portrait session to get them used to being in the studio and gets them settled before we introduce the cake.
When the cake is introduced its not always the reaction parents expect, some children don't really like getting messy and need some encouragement but there are others who just can't wait to have fun and smash the cake, either way they all end up having fun and we get some fab shots for you to treasure.
After the cake has been demolished (smashed) its time for a bath in one of my vintage tubs, YES I said bath and what child does not like a tub full of bubbles to splash and play in, which also means they come home nice and clean without the extra bits of cake.
Cake smash or messy play sessions are even a great way to improve your babies development as it encourages them to develop hand eye co-ordination and use fine motor skills, it also encourages your child to experience a variety of different textures and use a number of their senses.
